Introducing this year’s co-chairs:

Beverley May

Beverley started her working life in a medical diagnostic laboratory when she was seventeen years old. Over the last fourteen years she has been part of the Herzlia community, Temple Israel, Staffwise and the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, Cape Council.  Limmud has been the highlight of her Jewish calendar for the last seven years and she is so pleased to be on the team for 2019.

Raymond Schkolne

This year Raymond celebrates with his classmates 45 years since matriculating at Theodor Herzl School in Port Elizabeth where he grew up. His passion for Israel, the Hebrew language and spicy Middle Eastern food was enhanced through the five and a half years that he and his wife Sheryl (nee’ Edelstein) lived in Israel – where their two children Yair and Maya, were born.  Raymond subsequently worked as a Human Resources Executive in Cape Town for 28 years. He and Sheryl are rediscovering this astounding City through the eyes of their wonderful two year old Granddaughter Ella. A keen Limmud participant for many years – this is his first year involved on the organisational side of Limmud.

Bev and Raymond are proud to be part of Cape Town’s dynamic Limmud conference team which is bringing Limmud to the Graduate School of Business at the Waterfront in Cape Town. Capacity constraints at our traditional Stellenbosch venue necessitated the move with the additional benefit of choice between residential or conference-only attendance.

Limmud is completely driven by volunteers. Limmud Cape Town welcomes anyone wishing to take part in this amazing effort. Whether you have two hours to give or two hundred, if you are looking for a way to contribute to creating a more well rounded and cohesive Jewish community – Limmud Cape Town is the place for you.
